Time for another FightSMA Featured Family! This time we get to meet a wonderful woman named Natalia Escárate, from Valparaíso, Chile:
I’m 30 years old, I was diagnosed when I was 3 or 4 through a biopsy, but in 2009 I was subjected to genetic testing. When I was a child I received physical and hydrotherapy, but currently I just go to medical checkups (Physiatrist and Bronchopulmonary) about twice a year because I suffer a lot from pneumonia. I studied English Translation at the university. I’m working as a freelance English teacher at the moment. I work mostly with children because I really love them!
Thanks so much to Natalia for writing in!

Hello Natalia,
thank you for sharing your story. One of my friend who has SMA is now in hospital and she is suffering from pneumonia. We are from Poland. She is 52 years old and her situation is realy bad, because she has a lot of problems with respiration. The doctors can’t realy help… Me and all the people who are supporting our friend with her problems will be glad for some advices how to help her with the respiration.
Thank you a lot for help!
