Tournament will be held at the prestigious Santa Anna Golf Course in Bernalillo, New Mexico on Thursday, September 23, 2010. Discover New Mexico’s finest public championship golfing experience with its twenty-seven enchanting hills and challenging design around three lakes awaiting you at the classic native desert style golf course.

Once again, the Spinal Muscular Atrophy Gold Classic in Albuquerque, New Mexico was a great success. Thank you to everyone who came out on a beautiful, sunny day to support the tournament’s second year.

The 1st Annual Spinal Muscular Atrophy Golf Classic in Albuquerque, New Mexico was a great success. More than 100 players came out to Isleta Eagle Golf Course to help fight this horrific disease. The twenty-seven holes of enchanting hills and the challenging course designed around three lakes and the sweeping Rio Grand River was accentuated by the beautiful weather. In the end, Desiree’s Buddies raised more than $12,000 dollars for Spinal Muscular Atrophy research.

A huge “THANK YOU!” goes out to all the volunteers and participants for their hard work and support.

Spinal Muscular Atrophy Billboards Debut in Albuquerque, New Mexico!

Thanks to the hard work of Desiree’s mom, Erin Weisner, billboards like the one you see here are popping up all over Albuquerque, New Mexico this spring. Six months ago, Erin went to her local office of Lamar Outdoor Advertising and asked for a price quote from the company to put up billboards to inform people about spinal muscular atrophy. She told the sales manager Desiree’s story and invited him to learn about SMA. In the end, Lamar agreed to sell Desiree’s Buddies 20 billboards for the next several months for a small fraction of the normal cost!

4th Annual Bingo

With the goal to increase public awareness of spinal muscular atrophy, Desiree’s Buddies/FightSMA Southwest held another successful Bingo. Guests played for prizes while learning about this terrible disease. Many thanks to the Lion’s Club for being a wonderful partner for the annual Bingo event.
