About FighterMom - Disease Advocacy for Moms

The FighterMom™ program, developed by international nonprofit organization Fight SMA in 2005, is an interactive learning center designed to provide advice, education, and support to any mother who has become a disease advocate battling a medical, health, or behavioral issue affecting her child.

The founders of Fight SMA have worked since their organization's inception to raise money for research and to raise awareness for spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). FighterMom takes the lessons they've learned and applies them to any serious or incurable disease or disorder. We believe there's a FighterMom in every mother, and if you're trying to take the fight to the "enemy," we believe we can provide you the tools you need.

FighterMom was relaunched on Mother's Day Weekend 2007, moving from purely an information site to also being a community-based service. The FighterMom Community provides a meeting place for like-minded moms in order to combat isolation and stimulate the sharing of information. FighterMom features message boards, a news blog, the ability for users to create their own blog, and a podcast that features inspirational stories about people and families fighting disease.

Fight SMA maintains its rigorous focus on spinal muscular atrophy, but by passing on learnings from its range of activities, FighterMom provides real-world practical advice, techniques, and support to a wider universe.
